2023 Elections: Osinbajo’s assertion is unassailable- Ajulo

According to Dr. Kayode Ajulo, a constitutional lawyer and the Coordinator of Progressive Lawyers for Osinbajo, the Vice President’s decision to run for President in 2023 is non-negotiable.

Ajulo announced this in Abuja in response to a pro-APC organization, National Coalition Group, giving Osinbajo a 30-day deadline to publicly declare his interest in running for President.

On Wednesday, the lawyer stated that Osinbajo did not require an ultimatum to declare his candidacy for President in the 2023 general elections.

He argued that the vice president’s election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the next presidential election was lawful and unavoidable.

He stated that Osinbajo will make a formal announcement at the proper moment, contrary to predictions that the country’s number two citizen would not run despite pleas from loyalists and allies.

“It is controversial to speculate that Prof. Osinbajo would not run for president in 2023.” We’ve even progressed past the pedestrian level of wondering if PYO would operate or not.

“It is a predetermined arrangement, and we are already planning for Osinbajo’s presidency because he symbolizes everything Nigeria deserves at this critical juncture.”

“Though we were all anticipating it, Osinbajo has not announced because of the weight of responsibilities on his desk as Vice President, which are enormous and critical to national progress.”

He stated that such responsibilities should not be combined with a presidential campaign requiring time and attention.

According to him, we should not expect a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and full Professor of law to rush into anything; there is electoral law and rules, and he must not be found wanting.

“For me, this is yet another example of the VP’s unwavering traits of a diligent man devoted to the rule of law and the prosperity of the country,” he added.
