All governorship aspirants for the Anambra November 6 election have signed the peace accord facilitated by the National Peace Committee.
The signing event is performed to ensure that all candidates agree on conducting a free and fair election practice at the polling units.
Present at the peace accord signing ceremony was the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, representatives of political parties, Civil Society Organizations and many others.
Speaking at the event, The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Matthew Kukah re-emphasized the importance of the peaceful election and urged Ndi Anambra to go out and vote.
The Chairman of the National Peace Committee and Nigeria’s Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar also added that with the violence that has been witnessed ahead of the election, the signing of the Peace Accord has become imperative.
