Anambra: Ngige, APC Anambra chapter intends to sue Uba

The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress announced it will take its governorship candidate for 2021, Senator Andy Uba, and the party’s factional chairman, Basil Ejidike, to court.

The party announced this during a news conference on Wednesday, saying that Uba and Ejidike held a state congress in defiance of a state High Court ruling prohibiting them from doing so.

Mr. Chukwuma Agufugo, the party’s state secretary, and other stakeholders denounced Uba as the party’s leader in the state and recognized Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, as the genuine leader.

Agufugo accused the group led by Uba and Ejidike of holding the state congress in violation of the High Court verdict and an Appeal Court order that fired Ejidike and replaced him with Emeka Ibe, a former Chairman of the party.

“The APC in Anambra State is under assault, some anti-democratic elements have grabbed control of the state party, but we will not let them”. Agufugo stated.

“We are holding this news conference today to debunk some misinformation disseminated by the party’s opponents to unwary members of the public.” The party’s difficulty began during the previous governorship primary election, which was intended to elect rather than choose a flag bearer.”

He claimed that it was sad that Uba disregarded every other party contender in order to establish himself as the party’s flag bearer, resulting in the APC’s dismal performance in the gubernatorial race.
