Angelique Kidjo Wins Best Global Music 2022 Grammy Award

Congratulations to Angelique Kidjo, winner of Grammy’s Best Global Music Album category. Angelique Kidjo won her 5th Grammy plaque award yesterday for her project ‘Mother Nature. 

The category Best Global Music Album had the following music art as nominees:

Wizkid – Made in Lagos (Deluxe) 

Femi Kuti & Made Kuti – Legacy+ 

Rocky Dawuni – Voice of Bunbon, Vol. 1 

Daniel Ho & Friends – East-West Players Presents: Daniel Ho & Friends Live in Concert 

Angelique Kidjo of Benin has received the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album in 2022. The victory marks the sixth in the Beninese singer’s 40-year career.

Angelique Kidjo of Benin received the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album in 2022.

The victory marks the sixth in the Beninese singer’s 40-year career. Kidjo’s Grammy-winning record, ‘Mother Nature,’ is her first original music album in seven years. 

Nigeria stars; Femi Kuti and his son, Made, WizKid, Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni, and Hawaii’s Daniel Ho were among the nominees. 

Recall, that Burna Boy’s ‘Twice as Tall’ won Best Global Music Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony in 2021; it was his first GRAMMY award in the newly renamed category, formerly known as Best World Music Album.

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards was hosted at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, with Trevor Noah serving as host. 

Arooj Aftab, a Pakistani vocalist residing in Brooklyn, won the award for outstanding Global Music Performance; beating out Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Femi Kuti, Yo Ma, Wizkid, and Tems.
