The victory marks the sixth in the Beninese singer’s 40-year career. Kidjo’s Grammy-winning record, ‘Mother Nature,’ is her first original music album in seven years.

Nigeria stars; Femi Kuti and his son, Made, WizKid, Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni, and Hawaii’s Daniel Ho were among the nominees.

Recall, that Burna Boy’s ‘Twice as Tall’ won Best Global Music Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony in 2021; it was his first GRAMMY award in the newly renamed category, formerly known as Best World Music Album.

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards was hosted at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, with Trevor Noah serving as host.

Arooj Aftab, a Pakistani vocalist residing in Brooklyn, won the award for outstanding Global Music Performance; beating out Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Femi Kuti, Yo Ma, Wizkid, and Tems.
