APC, PDP has no future in South East – Former UPP National chairman

The former national chairman of the defunct United Progressive Party (UPP), who stated that he joined the APC to assist President Muhammadu Buhari in completing his second term in office in order to make room for an Igbo candidate in 2023, stated that the interplay of political forces had shown that the aspiration was unrealistic.

He added that only APGA, which he established but quite a few years ago, could secure an Igbo presidential berth in 2023 and restore Igbo relevance in the country.

Okorie also remembered that only the APGA had previously provided its presidential ticket to Ndigbo through the late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu in 2003, after the one offered to the late Nnamdi Azikiwe in the second republic, claiming that Ndigbo had no future in the APC or PDP.

Okorie, who expressed trust in Prof. Charles Soludo, the governor-elect of Anambra State, to drive change, noted that he (Soludo) was aware of Ndigbo concerns in Nigeria and has proposed answers to them via his work in Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Igwe A. I. Ofuebe, traditional ruler of Ifite Ogwari, Anambra State also spoke, emphasizing the need of Ndigbo uniting in their struggle to eliminate their marginalization in the country.

He stated that traditional institutions in Igboland would continue to foster real ambitions that would allow Ndigbo to retake their place in Nigerian society.
