The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Academic Staff has been requested to safeguard the university against unions that endanger its stability.

Professor Osita Chiaghanam, Interim Chairman of Progressive ASUU COOU, made this call during a press briefing held at the university’s Igbariam campuses, saying that a group known as the ‘ASUU COOU Reconciliatory Congress’ recruits’ sympathizers whose mission is to destabilize and destroy the university’s peaceful existence.

While stating that the university will not accompany any individual or group on a national strike that will benefit no one at the university, the group recalled the Vice Chancellor, Professor Greg Nwokoby’s, achievements, which include timely promotion of staff and completion of the ASUU Secretariat in the university.

The organization also asserted that the Chukuwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has no issue with the national Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, but that some within the university are utilizing the union to spread wickedness.
