“DIG Egbunike was a thoroughbred police officer”- Soludo

Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Governor-elect of Anambra State, has expressed his condolences to the family of Joseph Egbunike, the late Deputy Inspector General of Police, who died in Abuja on Wednesday.

The death of DIG Egbunike was a colossal loss to the country, the people of Anambra State, and the Nigerian Police Force, according to the Governor-media elect’s adviser, Joe Anatune.

He characterized the deceased as a well-bred police officer who carried out his responsibilities properly and conscientiously while displaying a strong sense of patriotism.

The late DIG Egbunike’s patriotism in serving the nation as a disciplined and good police officer, according to Soludo, was really laudable and would be remembered forever.

Soludo also expressed his condolences to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, and the Police High Command, as well as the Government and people of Anambra State, for DIG Egbunike’s untimely demise. He prayed for his soul’s peace and for God’s kindness to provide everyone the strength to suffer the unrecoverable loss.

DIG Egbunike, a native of Onitsha, Anambra State, was in command of the Nigerian Force Intelligence Bureau until his death (FIB). Prior to his appointment as DIG in 2020, Egbunike worked as the Head of the Police Finance Department and as the DIG in charge of the country’s South East Geopolitical Zone.
