The Federal Polytechnic Daura, Katsina State (Establishment) Act, 2019, offers full and part-time courses of instruction in several disciplines of study.
The Federal Government’s intervention in tertiary institutions’ road infrastructure, according to Works and Housing Minister Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), is an investment in education aimed to improve the learning environment.
The Minister remarked in Daura on Friday at the handover of a one-kilometre internal road constructed with drainages by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on the site of the newly formed Federal Polytechnic, Daura in Katsina State.
Abdullahi Masari, Assistant Director in the Office of the Federal Controller of Works in Katsina State, represented Fashola at the event.
“The point must be emphasized that, while this is a civil works project, it is an investment in education,” Fashola added.
According to the Minister, the quality of facilities and the learning environment would influence educational quality.
“Those who are sceptical should just listen to some of the comments from children in schools where this sort of intervention has occurred,” he continued.
Fashola also revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration effectively intervened in the interior road networks of 46 tertiary federal institutions and handed over 29 of them by 2021.
He revealed that another 17 of such roads were now being handed over while work was ongoing on 30 road(s) in similar institutions across the country.

The rector’s mission for the Polytechnic is to provide skill-based and practice-oriented training for self-employment, as well as to produce medium and high-level technical personnel for both the public and private sectors of the economy.
