The electricity contract, which was signed as part of the Interconnected Mini-grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS), aims to increase the electricity supply in rural areas.

As part of the initiative, eleven states in Nigeria are part of the beneficiary to the 23 mini-grids.

In two years, the project, which is being coordinated by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) with support from the European Union and the German government through the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), is expected to generate 5.4 kilowatts of electricity, connecting about 27,600 households and affecting over 138,000 Nigerians.
