The Federal Government has warned that any airline that fails to follow the newly amended COVID-19 Provisional Quarantine guidelines and Covid travel protocols would face a $3,500 fine per passenger.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) by Director-General NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, in an All-Operators Letter (AOL) dated December 3, 2021, to all relevant managers in Lagos, with reference NCAA/DG/AIR/16/327.
Airlines that violate the regulation, according to Nuhu, may face an outright ban for noncompliance with the standards.
The NCAA president stated that all airline protocols for international flight operations and quarantine protocols for international visitors in Nigeria issued on July 1, 2021, remain in effect; however, the revised provisional quarantine protocol for visitors arriving or departing Nigeria became effective on December 5th.
He stated that for inbound passengers, airlines must only board individuals who have a paid permit to fly with a QR Code, as well as the result of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 48 hours of boarding.
The following are some of the new travel protocol’s highlights:
