The Concerned Northern Forum has abandoned its demand that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company’s entire management be fired (NNPC).

The group’s viewpoint was expressed in a statement released yesterday that was jointly signed by its Chairman, Mallam Ibrahim Bature.

“There have been suspicions and misinterpretation of our demands, especially by those who profit from crisis circumstances, referring to its request for the NNPC’s management to be removed and importers implicated in the tainted gasoline to be prosecuted”. it said,

“It has become unavoidable to clarify that our viewpoint has no political affiliation or influence, nor has it been supported by any individual or organization, our plea was motivated by patriotism, as a result of the misery caused by the lack of quality motor spirit, as well as the significant economic impact of substandard gasoline at a time when the government is grappling with declining income”. It spoke.

“In light of new information at our disposal, as well as attempts by certain special interests to hijack our demand and use our position to blackmail the current NNPC management over the current artificial PMS scarcity caused by marketers dispensing fewer pumps at a time, we hereby state that, in response to the operational error of methanol in PMS above our national specification, which remains an unforeseen problem, we support the call for a thorough investigation as ordered by PR”.
