Jamb arrest Illicit CBT Centers in Kwara, other states

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has arrested operators of Computer Based Test (CBT) centres suspected of illegally registering students for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This online news portal knows that JAMB authorities launched sting operations throughout four states, namely Kwara, Kogi, Katsina, and Enugu, according to the information contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin issued on Monday.

According to JAMB, the detained operators allegedly harmed the registration process by setting up unlicensed satellite registration sites to gain unethical financial gain.

It revealed that certain workers from three of the four centres who were detained while carrying out the unlawful conduct were handed over to security officers for prosecution and that the accreditation of the centres had been terminated.

JAMB has previously declared that any violation of its registration flow by technical employees of any of its certified centres would not be tolerated.

While supervising the ongoing registration procedure at the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre recently, its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, reminded CBT centre managers of the importance of playing by the rules so as not to compromise applicants’ prospects and futures.

Prof. Oloyede, who accompanied members of the media to other CBT centres in the Ibadan metropolitan area, took the opportunity to chat with some of the candidates about their registration experiences.
