Nigeria: Fuel scarcity in Anambra, other states

Fuel shortages would endure in Anambra and other areas of the nation, according to petrol marketers, unless depots are supplied with appropriate and quality supplies.

Marketers who talked to media on the condition of anonymity blamed the present shortage on the supply of incorrectly specified gasoline in several areas of the country.

They said that the decision to pull the product from the market even after it had been distributed to a large number of filling stations across Anambra and other places caused a supply shortage, resulting in panic purchasing.

“As we speak, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd is striving to resolve this supply chain interruption as quickly as possible,” a top marketer stated.

The marketer went on to say that they had to deal with practical issues, such as paying people who were given the tainted items.

“The NNPC is working with marketers on this, and once the depots are refilled, tankers will begin loading, and supply will increase across the nation. Until we are able to do this, lineups will continue to form at gas stations due to the hysteria that has already been caused.” He continued.

According to an independent gasoline marketer who spoke on condition of anonymity, some motorists had complained about the quality of the fuel, prompting his station to cease selling it.
