Nigeria to Host Africa Military Games in 2024 – Maikano

Nigeria will host the second iteration of the Armed Forces Games in 2024, according to Abdullahi Maikano, president of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA.

According to Mr. Maikano, the goal of the Games is to promote the peaceful culture necessary for the economic growth and unification of the African continent. He made this statement to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

He also stated that this was the direction they were going in: “OSMA’s major purpose is to encourage friendly athletic and physical training activities among the Armed Forces of member-states.”

“The tournament will also include a total of 27 sports, and the championship will include competitors from every nation on the continent.

“However, The championship serves a means to unity nations and creates peace between countries.”

Maikano disclosed that the Games’ first edition was held in Kenya while Nigeria will host the second edition in 2024.

He also urged Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, private sector, philanthropists and several others to support the organisation.

“We have also started writing to the private sector, corporate bodies, philanthropists and lovers of sports to support us in the event.

“We don’t have money but whenever we have a championship people always come to support us financially and materially to have a successful ending,” the officer said.

The 7th General Assembly of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA, was held in Freetown, Sierra Leone in February.
