Residents of Obollo-Afor town, Udenu Local Government Area, was assaulted by hooded gunmen for violating the command, causing chaos. At around 8 a.m, they flogged shopkeepers and destroyed their products.
The hoodlums, who arrived on motorbikes, assaulted vendors who had just opened their doors. After unloading its occupants, they also set fire to a tricycle.
Soldiers stationed at a checkpoint along the route came in town at 8:30 a.m. to restore normalcy, according to reports.
Fearing threats, residents of Enugu’s city abandoned the highways and streets. Markets, schools, workplaces, retail stores, and parks were all closed.
