Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has denied ownership of the land on which the collapsed 21-storey building on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos was being constructed. 

An online medium had alleged in a publication on Thursday that Osinbajo owned the land on which the high-rise building was being developed. It also claimed the land was sold by Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, Chairman of Elizade motors.  

In a statement signed by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, Prof. Osinbajo also expressed sadness over the incident that occurred on Monday. 

The vice president also expressed in the statement that he has never had any influence or regulatory action on the said building and has no association with the building. 

He, however, sympathize with the families of victims and considers the painful loss of lives as a tragedy.
