WAEC Announces WASSCE Result 2021 For Private Candidates

The results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private applicants, 2021 second series, have been released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

The council will also mark its 70th anniversary from March 14 to 18, 2022, during its annual council meeting in Abuja, which will feature an endowment fund lecture by Prof. Ngozi Osarenren, former Commissioner of Education in Edo State.

Patrick Areghan, Head of National Office (HNO), WAEC, Nigeria, told reporters on Monday that 51,444 applicants sat for the test out of 52,973 who enrolled.

He stated that a total of 32,637 applicants, or 63.44 percent, received credits and above in at least five disciplines (with or without English Language and/or Mathematics), with 15,832 men and 16,805 females accounting for 48.51 percent and 51.49 percent, respectively.

According to him, 25,008 applicants, or 48.61 percent, received credits or above in at least five disciplines, including English Language and Mathematics.

“Of this amount, 12,272 (49.07 percent) were male applicants, while 12,736 (50.93 percent) were female candidates, In the WASSCE for private students in 2019 and 2020, the proportion of candidates in this group, defined as those who received credit or above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, was 35.99 percent and 39.82 percent, respectively. As a result, there has been a promising 8.79 percent increase in performance in this area.” He claims.

According to Areghan, the results of 3,968 students, or 7.71 percent of the total number of candidates who took the exam, are being delayed due to numerous reports of examination misconduct.

“The incidents are being examined, and the results of the investigations will be given to the relevant council committee for decision in due time.” The final judgments of the committee will be conveyed to the applicants who are impacted.”

Candidates who took the test may now verify their results on the council’s results website, www.waecdirect.org. The Result Checker PIN and Serial Number, which applicants will need to check their results online, are printed on the candidate’s Identity Photo Card, which was used during the examination.
