2023 Elections: Ohanaeze Youths grants Peter Obi 7 days to declare his presidential ambitions

Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), the South East’s apex youth socio-cultural organization, has characterized former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi’s speech on his presidential aspiration was disappointing and undesirable.

Last weekend, Obi stated that he would only run for president “if the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cedes its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria or makes it open to all regions.”

OYC national president, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, described Obi’s words as an utter disappointment to the youths of Igbo extraction, saying, “Mr. Obi can’t be engaging in hide and seek politics to ruin the future of new Igbo generation, while mediocre are parading and declaring interest to sink Nigeria even further.”

Comrade Igboayaka told reporters yesterday in Owerri, Imo State’s capital, that the time has come for the youths to encourage the best material to register interest in the presidency.

“Over the years, the Nigerian political first eleven have been pushed to the outside of politics and government, while the fourth eleven, if not the third eleven, have ruled the country for the past 56 years. Obi must declare his candidacy for president within seven days or he would be forced to leave Ala Igbo,” he said.

Igboayaka warned Obi that the present and future of Igbo youths, as well as Nigerian youths in general, are in grave danger. The future and destiny of Nigerian youths are being thrown around by mediocre, inept, and impunity-seeking individuals who have dominated our politics.

“It is acceptable, fair, and ethically required that the PDP presidential candidate come from the Southeast. As a result, Peter Obi should take a risk and try to realize what is properly Southeast’s,” he stated.
