2023: Igbos rejects position of Vice President

As Nigeria approaches the 2023 general elections, there are signs that the Igbos may refuse to accept the vice-presidential position.

The movement in the Southeast for a Nigerian president of Igbo descent has gained strength.

On multiple occasions, prominent leaders and pressure organizations from the southeast have asked Nigerians to elect the Igbo speaking tribe as the country’s next president.

Remember that Chuks Ibegbu, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, asked potential presidential candidates from the North to back the Igbos in their drive to create a Nigerian president in 2023.

Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Tambuwal, Yahaya Bello, Bala Mohammed, and Bukola Saraki, according to Ibegbu, should abandon their presidential ambitions and help the Igbos.

While calling for a Nigerian president of Igbo descent, the first Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, warned that if the North kept the presidency, Nigeria would dissolve.

Amaechi warned that if the two major political parties decide to field candidates from the north, Nigeria will erupt.
