Anambra Set To Begin Biometric Data Capture of All Commercial Bus Drivers and Keke Riders

The government of Anambra intends to begin collecting biometric data from all commercial bus drivers and Keke riders in the state. 

This development was announced in a public service announcement issued by the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, which was signed on behalf of the Chairman by Mrs. Sylvia-Tochukwu Ngige and reads as follows:

The statement runs as follows: 

The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) wishes to inform all stakeholders and operations in the transportation sector in Anambra State, including buses, shuttle buses, try-cycles (also known as Keke), trucks, mini-trucks, tippers, lorries, taxis, market chairman, and others, that biometrics enumeration and registration will begin on Thursdays, June 2, 2022.

Biometric data enumeration and exercise will take place at designated ports, which will be conveyed to union leadership. This notice requires all transportation stakeholders to comply within four weeks of June 2, 2022. Impoundment will be imposed if you do not comply. 

This exercise is in keeping with Governor Charles Soludo’s aim to address the state’s current security concerns.
