Anambra State to start earning 13% oil derivative by march 2022 – Gov Obiano

Gov Obiano said that starting in March, Anambra would begin to receive 13% derivation as a result of its status as an oil-producing state.

Gov Obiano made the announcement during a press conference with journalists in Aguleri, Anambra, on Saturday, following a tour of the Awka International Convention Centre and the Anambra Cargo and Passenger Airport.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Pricing and Regulatory Agency had told him that crude oil in commercial quantities had been lifted in the state, he claimed. He claimed that Anambra has 15 oil wells, with the ENIYE 10940 Oil Field, operated by SEEPCO, being fully operational and totally owned by the state.

Gov Obiano also stated that the state’s rice production capacity has increased to 530,000 metric tonnes per year from 85,000 metric tonnes in 2014.

He claimed that the agricultural revolution his government brought about enabled the state to become not only self-sufficient in production but also a net exporter of commodities.

He estimated that state demand was about 330,000 metric tonnes of total output, saying that the industry had attracted a lot of investment and that many family economies had been changed.
