Demands of Victor Osimhen may hinder Premier League movements

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen outlines criteria for his next club as rumours of a summer move to the Premier League continue to circulate.

Osimhen, 23, has 17 goals and six assists in all competitions this season, playing a key part in Napoli’s Serie A championship defense.

Luciano Spalletti’s team will, at the at least, qualify for the Champions League, and Osimhen would only join a club that will compete in Europe’s premier league next season.

Napoli has given the player’s representation permission to put out feelers to Premier League clubs.

It was claimed earlier this week that Manchester United made a ‘undeniable’ proposal of more than €100 million for Osimhen, but the demand for Champions League play will dash their ambitions of acquiring the Nigeria international.

United are five points behind fourth-place Arsenal with three games remaining, but the Gunners, who have also made Osimhen a target, are far from sure in their Champions League berth and must still go to fifth-place Spurs to play the rearranged North London Derby.

Liverpool is another team that has interest in Osimhen, but there are questions about their readiness to enter a bidding battle that is likely to approach €100 million, considering their existing attackers’ blazing form.

Osimhen had a major face injury in November, but he has scored seven goals in ten games since his comeback.

“From the moment I had my operation, I read some people saying, ‘The season is for him, When he returns, he will not go head-to-head with a defender.’

‘Even with a mask, he can’t nod the ball,’ and such such nonsense. The majority of my uncertainties serve as fuel for me. Because I know who I am and what sort of heart I have. It means a lot to me to be able to return and keep the goals coming”.

“I appreciate people that have worked so hard with me to make sure I’m okay even when I had the surgery and everything”.

“They probably doubts me returning to my best because of the impact the facial incident could’ve had on my mental health.”
