A former Arsenal midfielder and Nigeria international Kelechi Nwakali, has accused Huesca of pressuring him to skip this year’s AFCON.
He was also accused of accepting a transfer abroad before ending his contract.
The 23-year-old resorted to social media to make a number of long claims against Huesca.
Though, Huesca refuted this in a statement he made.
Nwakali appeared three times for Nigeria in the AFCON in January but alleged that Huesca sports director Ruben Garcia pressured him not to participate in the Cameroon tournament.
The midfielder has stated that he no longer wants to “suffer in quiet.”
Nwakali wrote in his statement:
“Ruben Garcia put extreme pressure on me not to go to AFCON due to it ‘not being an important tournament’. He told me that if I go to AFCON I will not play for Huesca again”.
“This behaviour and the lack of respect shown to my country Nigeria was truly heartbreaking”
The midfielder joined Arsenal in 2016 from the Diamond Football Academy, after helping his country win the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, for which he received the Golden Ball Award.
Arsenal fought off a slew of Europe’s top teams, including Manchester City, as well as clubs from Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain, to sign him.
Before joining Huesca in 2019, he had three loan spells away from the North London club, including 16 appearances for Porto B.
