Comrade Israel Joe, a Niger Delta activist has vowed that the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) fuel will shut down the economy if the Nigerian government announces any increase in petroleum products.
Joe issued the warning in a statement signed and made accessible to journalists in Warri, Delta State, on Thursday.
“I can say conveniently and confidentially that we will shut the economy down and Delta State will never play second fiddle to the struggle, noting that the CSOs in Delta will meet today to make a decision on this” he said.
“Nigerians will no longer tolerate the misery placed upon us by this government,” Joe claims.
“We eagerly awaited the president’s speech, but it was unclear whether or not the subsidy would be removed.”
“However, we have learned from a reliable source that the Nigerian Federal Government intends to eliminate subsidies on petrol products by the end of January or February.”
“Let it be recorded that the Federal Government of Nigeria has not presented any superior logical argument about the advantages of eliminating the long-acclaimed subsidy, as it has never had any impact on the lives of ordinary Nigerians, but rather has caused suffering, pains, insecurity, and stress.”
