Prime Video, Amazon’s video streaming subscription arm, has signed a multi-year license agreement with Niyi Akinmolayan’s Anthill Studios to distribute Nollywood films on its platform.
This was published on the Nigerian production house’s official Instagram page on Friday.
“We are incredibly pleased to announce to the world that Anthill Studios has officially struck a multiyear license arrangement with Amazon Prime Video,” the company said in a statement.
Starting in 2022, Prime Video will hold exclusive worldwide distribution rights to Anthill’s slate of theatrical movies, which will be made available to more than 200 million Prime Video subscribers across the world following their theater run in Nigeria!
“This year, we have so much to contribute, and we can’t wait to share it with the world!”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ayanna Lonian, Prime Video’s director of content acquisition and head of worldwide major studio licensing strategy, expressed excitement about the dissemination of Nollywood films to its audience.
“We are really happy to provide Anthill’s next slates of famous Nollywood films to Prime Video subscribers all around the world, We want to expose our clients the finest of Nollywood and true African storytelling, and this ground-breaking partnership will enable us do so.” Lonian remarked.
Anthill Productions is recognized for films such as Elevator Baby, Day of Destiny, Prophetess, and others.
