Gov. Soludo Denies Mocking Labour Party Candidate, Peter Obi

Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has refuted the claim that he disparaged the Labour Party and Mr. Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, calling the news wholly untrue and unsubstantiated.

Soludo was reported as saying in the aforementioned source that individuals who left the All Progressive Grand Alliance, or APGA, for the Labour Party would labor in vain and that it was absurd for a party without an elected councilor to assume it would win the presidency.

Checks also revealed that the comment was a complete misinterpretation of what the governor stated during his contact with some audience following his 100 days in office media broadcast.

Aburime said: “The statement could best be described as an attempt by some misguided elements to cause disaffection between the Labour Party presidential candidate, His Excellency, Peter Obi, and his party leadership.

“We, therefore, wish to caution those wishing to cause mischief by publishing false and misleading stories to desist from doing so.

“The public should please disregard the entire statement as it never emanated from Governor Soludo”.

Recall that in June 2022, Peter Obi told Soludo that he is at peace with him and his administration.

He said “I want to assure you that the Obi’s camp is supporting you. We want you to succeed and cannot be part of any plot against you”. Peter Obi in his characteristic peaceful way told Anambra Governor.

Obi also pledged his readiness to offer any support that “will redeem our state and set it on the path of progress again”.

According to Peter Obi, he wants Soludo to succeed as governor because “when the state works, it is for the benefit of all”.
