Group launch mobile app for reporting crime in Anambra

Anambra Youth Volunteer, a group, has launched the ‘Nche App’, a mobile application, to support efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.

Chukwuma Okpalaezukwu, leader of the group, announced the development during the launch of the mobile application on Friday.

Communities across Anambra have come under attacks by gunmen in recent months, leading to killings, abductions, and destruction of properties.

According to NAN, Okpalaezukwu said the app will assist the state government in building “a prosperous, livable, safe and smart mega-state”.

He added that the app will enable residents to report security challenges within their communities.

“Nche mobile App is a digital solution, voluntarily donated in solidarity and support to the Soludo’s smart city project,” he said.

“It is designed for people, especially the youths to report environmental surveillance and traffic situation in the state.

Once you download the application, there is a provision for you to report anything. You can report either anonymously or by adding your names.

“The essence is to assist the state government achieve security of lives and property in the state.”

He encouraged residents, especially youths, to download the mobile app on their phones and report happenings in their environment.

In his remarks, Titus Akpudo, national president, Anambra state association of town unions, applauded the initiative.

“This kind of app will also help in reporting crimes, and I’m appealing to our youths to join hands to make Anambra work,” he said.

Among the features listed on the mobile app are sections for reporting gunmen attacks, drug abuse, cultism, human trafficking and fire outbreaks.
