Mr Rotimi Odusola, Nigeria’s Guinness Corporate Relations Director and Business Secretary, said the company was dedicated to teaching its consumers about responsible alcohol usage.
As a corporation that emphasizes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Odusola feels that educating people about appropriate alcohol use is vital.
“We have a good relationship with other bodies, like the FRSC, through which we highlight our message of responsible consumption of alcohol.”
“We want to be able to pass across the message that we are a responsible corporate entity,” said Odusola.
He noted that Guinness Nigeria prioritizes diversity and inclusion in its operations; to attract more women to the Guinness community and support female-owned companies.
“For us to have a sustainable business, we have to contribute to the sustainability of the society. So, sustainability to us goes beyond gender issues,” he said.
Odusola also debunked earlier claims in the media that Guinness Nigeria was relocating to Ghana.
Rather than relocating the firm’s headquarters to Ghana, he added that the company built a new headquarters facility in Ikeja, which he said will be launched soon.
“In a few weeks, we’ll be launching a new office in Ikeja, putting to rest rumours that we’re moving to Ghana. We are extending our activities rather than closing offices to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)”.
Guinness Nigeria’s Corporate Communication Manager, Mrs Ayodele Alabi, said the company was in a position to benefit from the AfCFTA because of its wide range of products.
Mrs Olanike Onokoya, Guinness Nigeria’s Sustainable Development and Diageo in Society (DIS) Manager, noted that the company’s sustainability approach includes empowering individuals in diverse areas, particularly women.
