PDP delegate donates N12m he got from presidential aspirants to the less privileged in Kaduna

A national delegate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Tanko Sabo allegedly donated over 12 million naira which he received from the party’s presidential aspirants to the underprivileged in the state of Kaduna.

During an interview, Sabo said he donated the money to satisfy his conscience. He added that he had promised to return all monetary benefits obtained in the PDP primaries to his constituents if elected as a delegate.

He also said he was not afraid that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) might go after him.

But Sabo refused to reveal the names of the applicants who gave him the money. Instead, the delegate of the state of Kaduna said: “There are many”.

Asked which aspirant he voted for, Sabo said, “It’s personal.”

When he explained how the money was disbursed, Sabo revealed that he had paid NECO 6.9 million as “WAEC and NECO exam fees for 150 orphans and disadvantaged”.

He also said he gave N100,000 in logistics to the five-man committee set up to tour schools and pay exam fees.

However, he added that N3.2 million spent on the purchase of 42 custom jerseys. He said the purchase was to promote sport among the area’s youth.

Many Nigerians praised Sabo’s action as many described him as a delegate with a difference.
