CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, has responded to calls for him to run for president in the 2023 election.
According to him, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has the authority to map out his succession plan.
The CBN governor was cited as adding that a ‘group of his cronies,’ nicknamed ‘Friends of Godwin Emefiele,’ met with him to discuss the issue around his potential presidential campaign in 2023.
Emefiele stated in a statement released by the organization that he would leave his destiny in God’s hands.
“Only yesterday, as the conjecture grew; a number of his friends gathered with him to clarify his stance,” the organization said in a statement.
