President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that his age is catching up with him and that he is looking forward to stepping down.
Buhari has stated that he no longer enjoys working long hours every day.
On Thursday night, the Nigerian leader declared this on state-owned television station Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Many of his colleagues and peers, he said, were enjoying their retirement, and he planned to join them when he left office in 2023.
“And regarding my age, well, I see my colleagues, they are now relaxing, and I guarantee you that I’m looking forward to the next 17 months when I too would have to be less busy,” he stated when asked how he felt about turning 79 years old lately.
“My age is catching up with me. Working in an office for 6, 7, or 8 hours a day is no laughing matter”.
“Each week, questions of executive council memoranda from as many states as feasible will be considered. In the end, it’s a lot of hard work.” But I requested it, so I can’t complain.”
