Since Saturday, south Africa has documented 1,886 new viral cases and 22 deaths ahead of the projected fourth wave of Covid-19.

Joe Phaahla, the health minister has urged more people to be vaccinated.

“We knew it was only a matter of time until the fourth wave arrived.” During an interview with ENCA television, he stated.

According to Mr. Phaahla, “vaccine uptake has decreased in recent days.”

The administration has stated that it has no intentions to impose a strict lockdown during the storm.

There is hope that it will be less damaging than previous waves, but the government is wary of any new variants.

The fourth wave in South Africa is expected to begin next month and last through January. European countries are already experiencing intense and increasing waves.
