Tonto Dikeh Emerges ADC Deputy Governorship Candidate in Rivers State

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming 2023 general election in Rivers State.

This was announced by Tonto Dikeh in a post on her Instagram account.

She also expressed gratitude to Tonte Ibraye, the ADC’s candidate for governor, for choosing her and promised to make significant investments in social protection, develop a social value system for children, and expand the representation of women in politics, among other things.

She wrote, ”I thank Mr. Tonte Ibraye(@tonteibraye), the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rivers State for nominating me as his running mate.

”We are also looking forward to investing massively in social protection, creating a social value system for young people, increasing women’s inclusion in our governance system, supporting small businesses, and strengthening our traditional institutions to be active players in the drive to bring sustainable development to the good people of Rivers State.

Tonto Dikeh  Political Interest

Recall that in August 2021, The River-State-born Tonto Dikeh, announced her unflinching resolve to rule Nigeria some day.

She first made her political ambition public during an interview with the Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, in 2020, she announced her intention to go into politics in 2023.

The mother-of-one shared the information with her 6.8 million Instagram followers.

She said “I can do it. I’m in the process; I’ve started. I’ve been watching the grounds. I’m not going to be identifying with any political party at the moment until 2023.”

“I won’t say I’ve grown bigger than Nollywood. My dreams have rather grown bigger than Nollywood. I’ve rejected movie roles and I still do. I’m one artiste who doesn’t like to be stereotyped,” she said.
