According to Enyimba’s website, the league management firm has rescheduled the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match between Enyimba and Akwa United for January 26.

The move is being made to provide all South-East teams adequate time to finalize a sponsorship contract with a brand.

“Enyimba’s week 7 encounters against Akwa United has been postponed to Wednesday, January 26,” according to a press statement from the Aba-based club’s information department.

The LMC has failed to implement the sponsorship contract Enyimba and other southeastern clubs made with Hero beer in December 2021, before the current season started, according to the report.

“The match was initially planned for this Thursday, but the League Management Company changed the date “in order to allow for adequate sponsorship activation for the benefit of our sponsors and other prospective sponsors,” according to a letter from the League Management Company.

Enyimba will continue on the road after picking up a point against Gombe United on Sunday and will face Lobi Stars in the next round of NPFL matches on January 23.
