Gov. Soludo Moves to Achieve 24/7 Power supply in Anambra, re-constitute State Power Committee.

Soludo charged the members of the State Power committee to be responsive to the task ahead in ensuring that the urban areas in the state meet up to 24-hour power supply.

The committee has Engineer Chike Okonkwo as Chairman and Nwabufo Nwankwo as Secretary.

Other members of the Committee are Commissioner for Power and Water Resources include; 

Engineer Julius Chukwuemeka
Engineer Geoffrey Nwokoy
Dr Chukwueloka Umeh
Engineer Vincent Obiorah
Engineer George Chiatula
Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo
Engineer Ugochukwu Ifediora
Barrister Titus Akpudo.

The committee’s mandate includes:

Conducting power flow and demanding forecast studies to determine the adequacy of the state’s current supply
Determining the optimal siting of power infrastructure to also mitigate identified inadequacies and support future load growth
Liaising with EEDC to recommend short and medium-term implementable solutions to achieve 24/7 supply.

While representing the governor at the committee inauguration, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu described the committee as an equally important aspect of the vision of the administration. He also tasked them to review the work done by the previous committee in the past administration. Furthermore, he requested that they work for optimum results in solving all bottlenecks in the power sector.

 Governor Soludo, while congratulating the committee, noted that they were selected because of the responsibilities the state entrusted them with. He also expressed the hope that with the terms of reference, Ndi Anambra and investors will in no distant time experience a turnaround in the power sector.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Chike Okonkwo, who thanked the governor for the call to serve, summarized their work as providing a 24-hour power supply.

The Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engineer Chukwuemeka, pointed out that the committee will equally lookout for estimated billing and prepaid meters. He also claimed the committee will ensure that Anambra State meets the target of asking Ndi Anambra to come home and invest.
