According to the National Information Technology Development Agency, there is no scientific proof that the 5G network poses a health danger. Mr. Kashufu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director General of NITDA, said this in a Kano interview with journalists.

He stated that in order for Nigeria to flourish in digital technology, the country must adopt the 5G network. “Previously, there was a conspiracy idea that the 5G network had health consequences, but there is no scientific data to support this. According to scientific evidence, the frequency used in microwaves, refrigerators, televisions, and other appliances is more dangerous than 5G network technology,” he claimed.

Kashifu stated that the future was digital, and that Nigeria needed to be digital to prosper in the twenty-first century. “We are seeing new emergent technologies like as self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, and others, and these technologies are computers that require a communication channel, which is the 5G network. The sooner we accept it, the better for us; even if we don’t, others will” he continued.

He stated that ICT currently contributes more to Nigeria’s economy than oil and gas. “Before this government, ICT contributed less than 5% of GDP; today, ICT contributes 17.93% of GDP,” Kashifu said.
