Six Ways To Drink More Water That You Might Not Have Heard Before

How many of us are actually drinking more water, even though everyone knows we should?

The study found that women should consume at least nine cups of water each day while men should consume roughly 13 cups. If you exercise, you should prepare to consume 16 to 24 ounces of water to replenish the fluids you lose while exercising. Water has a favorable impact on your energy levels, health, and mood, among other things.

Even if we are aware of the health benefits of drinking water, it can be difficult to remember to do so throughout the day, especially if we are not particularly thirsty. Here are a few ideas that you might not have considered if you wish to develop the habit of drinking more water.

There’s an App For That!

These days, there’s an app for everything—including drinking more water! Apps like Waterlogged and MyFitness Pal can help you set your water intake goals and track your progress throughout the day. Waterlogged will even send you reminders throughout the day.

Challenge Your Friends

Sometimes competition is the perfect motivator! Make a friendly wager with a family member, friend or co-worker on who can drink more water each day.

Bring a Gallon of Water to Work

Bring a gallon of water with you to work and see how much you can consume before your work ends. If you can drink half of a gallon—which is equal to 16 cups—during a workday, you’ll be well on your way to a healthy day. To remind yourself to drink more water throughout the day, you may even mark lines on the gallon jug with precise times next to them.

As a Reward, Use Water

Would you like that chocolate after lunch? Avoid getting it until you’ve had four glasses of water in the morning. Ideally, you’ll feel more satisfied and can skip chocolate anyhow!

Utilize a Straw

This one is straightforward, but many individuals discover that using a straw makes it simpler to drink quickly. You don’t think so? Give it a go!

Add frozen fruit!

Frozen fruit adds a delightful hint of flavor to any water. Freeze some lemon, orange or lime slices and put them in your drink – they also make great ice cubes.
